Chequamegon Bay Tagged Fishing Contest!

Come join us for our annual Bass Kickin on the Bay and more, contest on Chequamegon Bay in Ashland, WI.  This year we’ve changed it up a bit.  The tagged fishing contest will run from May1st thru October 31st, 2010.  All 12 fish are tagged with DNR tags! Pins can be purchased for only $5.00 and a portion is given to the Chequamegon Bay Re-Stocking program.   There are 2 fish from 6 different species totaling 12 tagged fish worth money.  The top prize is $1,000.00 and is a smallmouth bass. 

Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay is a place where you can just about catch anything.  The bay contains a variety of habitat that supports most every fish found in Wisconsin’s greatest lake. 

Chequamegon Bay is a fantastic warm water fishery for Smallmouth, Walleye, Perch, and Northern Pike.  The bay is also a cold water fishery yielding Trout and Salmon.  Lake Superior tributaries & streams are renowned for their spring Steelhead, fall Salmon, Splake & Brown Trout fishing. 

Chequamegon Bay is well known as a world class Smallmouth Bass fishery.
Fall fishing on the bay is the perfect time for fishing Smallmouth Bass and five pound smallies are common.  Smallies love the bay’s deep weed beds and drop offs. 
This is a quality “catch & release” fishery managed for trophy sized Smallmouth Bass.  With an average fish size of 18 inches anglers are sure to enjoy a tenacious fight with one of the bay’s best.
